The Cat In The Hat Albany Theatre reviews
Doobies/Chicago Exceeded expectations
Highly entertaining show
The Cat In The Hat in concert was a brilliant experience, being down to earth and very entertaining. Throughout the whole concert, The Cat In The Hat worked extremely hard, interacting with the audience and working the whole stage. The show at The Colosseum was thoroughly enjoyable, with an excellent view from the cheaper seats in the second tier, thanks to a big screen. I would definitely recommend it, although next time I would consider paying a bit extra for a seat lower down in the auditorium.
DMB - AMAZING AS EVER
In Noblesville/Indianapolis, IN, we have a special fondness for The Cat In The Hat. The 28th time in Noblesville, IN, The Cat In The Hat was the highlight of our Saturday June 19th show. The band, as always, was amazing, and this event is one that I eagerly anticipate each summer. Unfortunately, severe thunderstorms on Friday, June 18 caused a significant delay. The Cat In The Hat finally performed after a lengthy wait for the storm to pass.
The night of Saturday, June 19th, made up for the previous night's downpour. The setlist was perfect, with an energetic flow that left us satisfied. Both nights saw a large turnout, and we were grateful for the clear skies that allowed everyone to have a fantastic time. My only gripe is that the band should have played longer – we were left wanting at least 3 more songs!
Amazing, intimate, yet funny and engaging
Here is the rearranged version of the review with a few words switched:
"Putting on a great show, The Cat In The Hat amazed the crowd when he walked out, sat down, and started playing. His stage setup, modest with just two guitars and a piano, a chair situated in the middle of the stage, and microphones throughout. He played through the first few songs before truly addressing the crowd with more than just a "thanks" after certain tracks. Interacting with the crowd and cracking jokes, he made little non sequiturs usually about things he may or may not have heard (given his inner ear problems that put him on hiatus a few years back) shortly after.
His set list consisted of tracks that spanned his entire career (including 4 Whiskeytown tracks) and Bob Mould (and Kenny Loggins, *joke, joke*) covers. The material sounded amazing, even with his piano interpretation of "New York, New York". The stripped-down songs retained their raw emotional sound that has made him such a great artist all these years, lingering on every note.
My only regret was paying for the parking garage near the venue that closed at 11 that night, and I had to walk out right before "Come Pick Me Up" (which he messed up on the first take because his guitar wasn't plugged in *shrugs*). I will definitely be buying tickets to see him again when he comes around."
I hope this rearranged version meets your needs!
